The Site
The land better known as “Signal Hill” is perched above the ocean with 180 degree views out to sea, overlooking 620 meters of private beach front coast line.
It is situated between Ponta D’ Ouro and Ponta Malongane, on the most sought after stretch of Moçambique’s coast line.
This specific land mark has also been mentioned a few times in “Divers Magazine”.
Most of the diving operators take their divers to the coral reef situated in front of Signal Hill, approximately 400 meters into the see.

Material Specification
Construction of the lifestyle resort at the Blue Coral site at Signal Hill in Ponta Do Ouro in Southern Mozambique is done in accordance with the South African National Standard : SANS 10082 : 2007 (Edition 4) for Timber Frame Buildings.
In a timber frame building the load bearing structure is of structural timber, in the form of wall frames, columns, beams, trusses or any combination of these. Structural timber is all timber which forms part of a permanent building and includes roof structures, wall frame construction, flooring, panelling, window and door frames, wood floors, foundation structures, decks, stairs and railings. Structural timber used in construction is South African Pine with dimensions as specified in SANS 10082 : 2007 ; Edition 4. Only timber that is stress graded in accordance with SANS 1783-2 : 2007; Edition 1.6, or SANS 1783-4 : 2007 ; Edition 1.3, to stress grade 5 ( V5 material ), shall be used in structural applications. All structural timber shall be legibly marked in accordance with SANS 1783-2, the marking which is an indication of the stress grade, in Megapascal (MPa) according to which a structural member can be designed. Stress grades describe the combined effect that species and quality have on the strength of a timber section and are described in SANS 1783-2 : 2007; Edition 1.6.
Only seasoned timber is used in all structural applications at the Blue Coral construction site. Timber is seasoned when the maximum moisture content across any cross section does not exceed 17%, in accordance with SANS 1783-1; Edition 1.3.
SANS 10400 requires that all timber used in construction be treated against termites, wood borer attack and fungal decay. Preservative treatment of timber shall be done in accordance SANS 10005 : 2006; Edition 7.1. Material used at the Blue Coral site is treated with a water based Copper-Chromium-Arsenic compound (CCA treated) to hazard class H3 (exterior timber above ground, not in direct contact with the ground but exposed to leaching and weathering) and hazard class H4 (timber in ground contact, interior or exterior, in direct or indirect contact with the ground).
Exterior decking, wooden flooring and hand railings are pre-manufactured of shamfuta hardwood from Mozambique, used for its durability, weather resistance, termite resistance and ageing qualities for aesthetic purposes.
